July 27^th, Jiayang Li, the Vice President of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) along with Le Kang, the Director of the Bureau of Life Science and Biological Technique of CAS and Bowei Tang, the Vice Party Committee Secretary of SIBS visited our institute.

Jiayang Li first came to some labs in the Industrial Biotechnology Center and the National key Laboratory of Plant Molecular Genetics, Jiayang Li′s group gave concern and guidance. Then Prof. Li attended a meeting with PIs. Vice Director Bin Han hosted the meeting. Vice Director Hongwei Xue introduced the team construction and progress on research in our institute. Shengli Si, Party Committee Secretary of our institute, in honor of Prof. Xiaoya Chen who was in Beijing attending an important meeting, gave a very welcome speech. Nearly 30 scientists including Academician Yungang Shen attended the meeting.

Prof. Li and Prof. Kang had a warmly discussion with PIs on research progress, talent bringing and team construction. Prof. Li gave Highly Recommended on our research collection and the academic construction; he also positively affirmed our achievements on Rice Genetic, Industrial Biological Technology and silkworm Genetic. Prof. Li stressed that the base construction in advanced industrial biotechnology will be further integration of scientific research strength of the entire CAS to develop systematic work, starting from energy species selective breeding and engineering strain construction to achieve the final goal of the products, and also actively communicate with the relevant state departments, link up with the national project, in order to meet the national needs to make significant contributions. Prof. Li further indicated that, the institute must be good at finding basic and the most important scientific problems in the national significant needs, to make serving for the national demand and the forefront of scientific exploration together.

Prof. Li also gave some pertinent recommendations on the development of our institute, like further displaying the superiority in academic and in talented person, promoting the academic overlapping and the fusion, promoting the research team construction, condensing our direction and making our own characteristic to get a sustainable development of our institute.
