2017 PSC Annual Retreat

On January 12, 2018, all the members of the Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology (PSC) gathered at the Shanghai Chenshan Research Center to celebrate the 2017 PSC Annual Retreat. Professors Yuehui He, Heng Zhang, Chanhong Kim and Rosa Lozano-Duran hosted four sessions of the retreat, and more than 300 people, including principal investigators, research fellows, and graduate students attended the symposium.

Prof. Jian-Kang Zhu, the director of PSC, delivered the opening remarks for the celebration event. He commended all the significant research progresses that PSC has achieved during the last year, and summarized the improvement of the graduate students’ degree evaluation system and the plans for the construction of the new building for PSC. He also communicated his belief that the continuous increasing research achievements will enhance the academic influence, status, and competitiveness of PSC in the plant biology field in the near future.

The symposium covered presentations on two topics: plant epigenetic mechanisms, and stress biology. A total of 16 principal investigators gave excellent reports, which included research directions, research achievements, and work plan for the next year. After each talk, a thorough discussion took place between the audience and speakers. This annual retreat not only provided a good opportunity to deepen the understanding on the work carried out by the different research groups, but also reinforced the cohesion of PSC.
