Research Scientist in Bioinformatics, group of Dr. Jungnam Cho
Application is invited for the position of Research Scientist in Bioinformatics in the group of Dr. Jungnam Cho at CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences, Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology (SIPPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. Cho lab is also part of Centre of Excellence for Plant and Microbial Science (CEPAMS) which is a joint research centre of Chinese Academy of Sciences and John Innes Centre. The main research focus of Cho lab is plant genome plasticity and mobile genetic elements. Particularly, we aim to understand how transposons jump and then use this understanding to develop crops with greater resilience to stress.
The successful applicant will assist with NGS data analyses and develop his/her own independent research projects. Duties of the postholder also include training graduate students with bioinformatics skills. We also welcome applications from non-Chinese scientists. The official language of Cho lab is English and Chinese skill is not essential for this post.
Qualification:
- Ph.D. degree in any of the following disciplines; computational biology, bioinformatics and plant science.
- Ample experience with high-throughput sequencing data analyses
- Excellent English communication skill.
- Strong self-motivation, responsibility, teamwork and joyful mind towards science.
