International PhD position in plant natural product biosynthesis ( Tatsis lab, 2021 intake)
Fellowship for International PhD Student
The group of Dr Evangelos Tatsis based at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Centre for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences (CEMPS) invites applications from young scientists to join the group as PhD students.
Group Description
The fundamental goal of our group is to determine how plants make natural products. Our major focus is to elucidate, understand and engineer the metabolic pathways which are responsible for the biosynthesis of natural products from Chinese medicinal plants. To address these important goals, we have an approach based on genomic resources, utilizing bioinformatics, molecular biology and enzymology techniques, with synthetic biology. Our lab is part of the Centre of Excellence for Plant & Microbial Science (CEPAMS) a collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the John Innes Centre (JIC) https://www.cepams.org/tatsis-lab.
Qualifications
We are seeking for a young talented student with a strong background in Organic Chemistry, either organic synthesis or natural products chemistry, eligible to apply for The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents. Applicants with background in biochemistry and plant biology, are encouraged to apply. We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, hard working young scientists who are highly motivated to boost their research career in the general area of plant natural products biosynthesis.
